The Commercial National Bank of L' Anse was founded by Mr. & Mrs. Clarence J. (Lucille) Dubuque as a state chartered bank in Greenland, Michigan. In 1933, the Dubuque's received permission from the State Banking Commissioner to move the charter from Greenland to L' Anse.

The Commercial National Bank succeeded the Baraga County National Bank which was liquidated during the "Bank Holiday" in 1932.

The executive officers for the bank have been as follows: Clarence J. Dubuque, 1933 - 1964; Vern A. Marquardt, 1965 - 1985; Philip J. Ott, 1985 - 2006; and J. David Vlahos, 2006 - present. We have 5 officers with 135 years of combined work experience..

Commercial National Bank became a subsidiary of Keweenaw Financial Corporation on October 31, 1994.
